SPACE News - June, 2003

Hello Everyone,
We hope everyone is well. It is with great sadness we bring some news. Due to unfortunate circumstances The SPACE will be closing at the end of July. We have not been offered a new lease, as our downstairs neighbours will not sign their new lease if we are still leasing above them (due to rehearsal and class noise). And guess what, they pay more money so we get the boot. Wish we had a million dollars to buy the whole building.

We have for seven years, managed to run The SPACE without any government support, which is a feat in itself. In order to help secure a possible new home for The SPACE we are looking for letters of support to make it easier for financing when the time comes. If any of you could take the time to write a letter saying what the SPACE did for you, what it gave and meant to you and its importance to the theatre community (especially the clown and physical world) and anything else you would like to mention, it would be greatly appreciated. Letters can be sent to The SPACE before July 28, after that they can be sent to 151 Spadina Road #3, Toronto, Ontario M5R 2T1.

We would like to thank everyone who ever rented The SPACE, all the people who put in the many volunteer hours that allowed The SPACE to operate and all the performers who performed at SPACE nights. We will be sending out an email with more thanks and information at a later date.

Thank you all for your support over the years at The SPACE.
